Wade is on a Mission to Help Kill Cancer

Drift Bikes |

From Friday 24 April to Saturday 2nd May 2015, I will be riding to cure cancer. Over 9 days as a team, we will ride 1194km along the scenic route between Melbourne and Adelaide via the picturesque Coonawarra region and Great Ocean Road, on Tour de Cure’s 2015 Signature Tour that raises awareness and proceeds to help cure cancer.

My name is Wade Budden, a 19yr old that loves bikes and has found a way to assist those who face a terrible disease through my passion for cycling, however I need your help!

I have been working within the cycling industry since I was very young, sweeping the floors, cleaning windows, fixing and selling bikes at Drift Bikes to now working for an Australian action sports wholesale company. This is where my passion for cycling has grown and evolved. Along the way I have thrown my leg over many different types of bikes either riding or racing competitively, from mountain bikes, road bikes and motorbikes. But no matter what I ‘am doing, one thing remains the same…. the smile on my face because I love what I do!

I have always found riding and racing bikes personally rewarding and something that has given myself some truly amazing experiences and friendships.

So when I found out about the Tour De Cure team and what they have achieved over their 7 years of fundraising and awareness programs, I felt compelled to be apart of the team and share the journey along the way.

The Tour team of over 200 people - including riders and support crew - are aiming to raise $3.8 million to fund vital cancer research, support and prevention projects helping men, women and children. With the statistic that “1 in 3 cancers are preventable”, we ride not only to raise money to find a cure, but also to raise community awareness. More kids, people and communities need to know that they can help prevent cancer by making healthy lifestyle choices.

Over the 9 days we will share Tour de Cure’s ‘BE FIT - BE HEALTHY - BE HAPPY’ cancer awareness message with VIC and SA school kids. Also, each night we will present a $5,000 cheque to a local cancer research, support or prevention project that directly helps that community and region.

I have committed raise $12,000 to be part of the team and would really appreciate your support to help me reach this target. Simply head online to www.tourdecure.com.au and search for my profile by using the search function on the site or use this quick link http://goo.gl/6Bj64y, and your donation will go against my tally. Donations no matter how big or small will all go towards an amazing cause that is truly making a difference to people’s lives.

I will be training hard in preparation for the tour and helping to inspire our communities in taking action against cancer. You may even see me out on the roads of Newcastle and the Hunter region with a smile on my face as I count the kilometers all the way from 1 to 100+ on my journey to the 2015 Tour De Cure, riding to cure cancer!

Thanks for all your support and time.

Kind Regards,

Wade Budden
