Recently Drift Bikes were contracted to shoot and produce a film about the Cape to Cape Mountain Bike Event.
The proposal basically came out of the blue and went along the lines of "would you like to come to WA and film a massive mountain bike race?"
Pause, "Yes"
Having been Westside before we are all too aware of how amazing the south west region can be but we were not all that familiar with the Cape to Cape other than what we had read in magazines.
Having spent a whirlwind 4 days going over stage routes and producing daily edits into the wee hours of the morning, we now have a close affinity with the event!
The event itself is massive. Spanning 4 days with 5 stages this years event hosted over 1300 riders with a huge contingent from the east coast of Australia and a lot of South Africans and Europeans making up the interstate and international riders. That's South Africa, not South Australia.
The rider pool hosts an incredible spectrum of rider abilities from the very beginner right thru to a very solid elite field including the likes of Andy Blair, Dylan Cooper, Paul Van Der Plough and eventual winner Mark Tupalski.
We are honoured to have been a part of making this film and we are already setting our selves to be ready to cover the Port to Port MTB when it comes to town next May.
But rather than listen to us rattle on about how the event went down, you can watch it from the comfort of your own living room this Saturday the 29th of November at 4:30pm on SBS 2.
We hope you enjoy the film!
