Thinking about where to race outside of the Newcastle area?
The Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders hold a variety of races in the Kiwarrak State Forest, located on the south-western side of Taree.
Cross Country Race – 3pm, Sunday 18th March
All Mountain Time Trials - 1pm, Sunday 25th March
Bruce Pain from the Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders announced these coming events. For more info visit http://mgltipriders.asn.au
Cross Country Race – 3pm, Sunday 18th March
Riders can enter as male pair, female pair, or mixed pair, or they can choose to complete the race as individuals. The rider or pair of riders to complete the most number of laps in 90 minutes will be the winner.
The loop is the 5.1 kilometre short race loop marked by white arrows on dark blue background. The track is in good condition and a lot of work has been done lately to get the tracks back in good shape after the poor weather. The weekend weather forecast looks promising so it should be a great event.
Riders will need to register by 2:45pm to enable us to get teams formed for those who wish to turn up on the day and be placed in a team.
Cross Country races begin on Lantana Crossing Rd which is the first left hand turn off The Bucketts Way after the rubbish tip entrance. Parking will be on Lantana Crossing.
All Mountain Time Trials - 1pm, Sunday 25th March
The track for the All Mountain Super D will begin on the ramp at the top of Up River.
Riders should park at the bottom of Deans Creek Rd or at the cleared section at the top of Son of Skull (transport to and from the race not available from this site).
It would be advisable for riders to do a few practice runs the day before or on the Sunday morning to get used to the lines of the track - particularly the B lines on Up River which will be taped on the day.
Riders MUST be full club members or purchase a day license. This will be mandatory.
Parking for All Mountain races is on Deans Creek Rd which is also a left hand turn off The Bucketts Way, approximately four kilometres past the tip entrance. (If you get to Tinonee you have missed the turn and need to back track about one kilometre).
