JOIN US FOR A LONG WEEKEND OF RIDING IN FEBRUARY
It's on again, the biggest little ride tour of the year.
February the 26-28th will see the Drift Bikes road trip the NSW Mid North Coast where we will experience three spectacular days riding – starting at Kempsey, then to the picturesque town of Bellingen, before finishing in Taree at the infamous Tip Trails to top off our three day MTBfest.
The Sydney Morning Herald described Bellingen as "..the creative hub of the Coffs region. Music, markets, festivals and fabulous food abound, making it an ideal destination for epicureans and culture-lovers alike." And despite not even knowing what an epicurean is, the place sounds pretty good.
Skill/Fitness Level Required: This ride is not for beginners however it is designed to enable riders who are wanting to test themselves in a non competitive environment without fear of being left behind. Simply bring your determination and come prepared with food and water and you will be alright! We do recommend a couple of rides be completed of at least 50km in the month prior to this weekend in order for you to be comfortable on this ride. If you are unsure about your suitability for this trip please feel free to discuss with one of our staff in store.
Transport/Accommodation/Food: Attendees are required to be self sufficient as far as transport to and from each ride start/ finish location, accommodation & food through out the weekend.
For anyone keen to stay over in Bellingen or surrounding areas a number of Accommodation options can be found here
Drift Bikes chooses to stay at Bellingen YHA - Bookings can be made via their website
The YHA is located within a short walking distance from the river, shops, restaurants and bars.
We start our trip with a stop at Kempsey where we will get a taste of some of the 30km trail network with available trails ranging from easy to advanced. This should in turn generate a good appetite which can be satisfied at the nearby Golf Club. Before rolling off to Bellingen for an afternoon of relaxing by the river or checking out the sites around this lazy historic town.
The Bellingen ride will be approximately 60 Kilometers over a variety of trail types including a bit of a bitumen, logging trails, a couple of decent climbs, some technical descents and a whopping 20+kms of flowy north coast jungle single track trail.
Here's a look at one of our previous Bellingen ride trips
- This ride is not without its challenges
- Flowing singletrack & fun descents
- Great accommodation can be found close to the river.
The Bellingen ride will begin on Saturday morning and will go for approximately 4-5 hours. Upon registration exact meeting time and place will be emailed to you. Below is a contour diagram of what to expect from the Bellingen ride.
There will be plenty of time to take in the tasteful delights around Bellingen.
On day three we ride in Kiwarrak State Forest with over 40km of singletrack. These trails are regarded as some of the best on the mid north coast and have been lovingly crafted over many years by local riders. These trails consist of many flowing natural and man made turns as well as a variety of ridable structures for testing balance and skill. Before finally heading home to tell our friends (who stayed at home to mow the lawn, clean the laundry cupboards or just ride the same old boring trails) about all the good riding they missed out on.
Registration fee includes a compulsory checkover and minor adjustment* to ensure good mechanical condition of your bike. This must be checked in at least two weeks prior to the trip. If your bike has been serviced at DRIFT BIKES within three (3) months of the ride date this check over will not be necessary. If your bike has been serviced by another store, yourself, dad, mate or grandma in this time you are still required to check your bike in for a check over.
Drift Bikes agrees to provide guiding, first aid accredited staff member and mechanical support for the duration of the rides each day.
