chris-heverin This morning Robbie & Josh had the pleasure of meeting Race Director, Chris Heverin of the popular WA based stage event Cape to Cape MTB. The occasion, the official launch of the first ever Port to Port MTB stage race taking place Thursday 1st - Sunday 4th of May 2014. Never before has our region played host to such a huge MTB focused race event which is no doubt going to create quite a buzz of excitement amongst the local and NSW mountain biking communities. Set in the Newcastle and Hunter amongst some of our most iconic locations, riders will enjoy racing along the best track, trails and roads the region has to offer. As they wind their way from Port Stephens, out to the Hunter Valley Vineyards and back to Newcastle City, a finish line at the picturesque Nobbys lighthouse will await to conclude four epic days of mountain biking bliss. Chris, stated "We are very excited to be bringing Port to Port MTB to Newcastle and the Hunter. This four day stage event will provide a great challenge for riders of all standards. The Port to Port MTB course is amazing, with some of the best trails in Australia. As a sister event to the fabulous Cape to Cape MTB in Western Australia, we will be giving riders another outstanding MTB stage event" The stages are set out as follows: Stage 1 : Thursday 1st May 2014 - Port Stephens - 26km Nelson Bay Marina - start & finish ( incorporates Port Stephens Forest trails) Stage 2 : Thursday 1st May 2014 - Nelson Bay ( Eliminator Challenge) - 1km Nelson Bay CBD Stage 3 : Friday 2nd May 2014 - Hunter Valley - 53km Pokolbin State Forest (West of Cessnock) Stage 4 : Saturday 3rd May 2014 - Hunter Valley - 60km
