Regular DRIFT BIKES Rides

Join us on our regular group rides, meet like-minded people and enjoy the awesomeness of cycling in Newcastle & The Hunter.

We will indicate on our Facebook page of cancellations or changes to these rides as early as possible. If in doubt? Write a post on there and ask us. Oh and… if it’s raining, we don’t ride! If Facebook isn’t your thing, phone the Kotara store on 4924 2600 or Maitland store on 4933 0750, within trading hours.

Tuesday Morning No Drop Ride – Road – Newcastle - Hosted by Robbie - leaving 6:30am from the Kotara Store. Ride will be for approximately 1 hour finishing back at the Kotara store. This ride is targeted at beginner road cyclists of either gender. The ride will head to Broadmeadow racecourse where you will be able to practice some of the basics that will be talked over prior to the departure of the ride. This is a genuine beginner ride and all attempts will be made to accommodate the abilities of those who turn up. It is designed to give you confidence and basic fundamental understanding of how to ride in a bunch without the pressure of hanging on to more experienced cyclists. No need to book, just turn up at 6:25 with your bike, helmet and red flashing rear light.

Tuesday Night RideMTBGlenrock - Hosted by Robbie - Leaves 5:45pm from DRIFT BIKES Kotara, up the Fernleigh Track to start the loop from Gun Club Road in Glenrock. If you can’t be at the store in time, meet us at Gun Club Road at 6:00pm. We leave no man or woman behind. Come one, come all!

Saturday Morning Ride – MTB – Glenrock – Hosted by Aaron - Meet us at the store carpark at 7:15am. Please note that this ride is recommended for intermediate to advanced skill and fitness levels. Come along and start your weekend well!

Saturday Morning Ride – Road – Maitland - Hosted by Josh – We meet at the Maitland Info Centre at 6:30am. The info centre is located on High St, just off the New England Highway. It is usually an approximate 40km return loop and heads out through some beautiful rolling countryside towards Paterson and back towards Morpeth, then back to Maitland. We average around 30kmph but we will always wait at a few major turn-offs so that no one gets left behind. The ride finishes at Stillwater Cafe in Lorn around 8am. For anyone interested in riding from the Kotara Store, we will be leaving at 5:15am. Hello weekend!

Morning has broken over Morpeth Bridge
